Wendy Williams was born on July 18, 1964, in Asbury Park, New Jersey. She began her career in radio broadcasting after graduating from Northeastern University in Boston, where she earned a degree in communications.

Williams started her radio career in 1989 at WVIS in the Virgin Islands, and then moved on to WEPN in New York City in 1996. She eventually landed a nationally syndicated radio show in 2008, The Wendy Williams Experience, which led to her famous talk show, The Wendy Williams Show.

As a young woman, Wendy Williams struggled with drug addiction but overcame it and has been sober for many years. She has been married twice and has a son named Kevin Jr. with her ex-husband Kevin Hunter.
